Semingo Secures $2.25 Million First Round Funding from Carmel Ventures

Israel, July 26, 2007 –Semingo, an Internet Company, today announced it has secured $2.25 million in first-round financing from Carmel Ventures.

Semingo utilizes a robust semantic technology for delivering a cutting edge web application in the domain of Meta Social Networks. The company is currently operating in stealth mode and will release further details of its product in months to come.
Semingo was founded by Liad Agmon, Sagie Davidovich and Avital Yachin. Liad Agmon, who served as a Director of Product Management at McAfee, joined the company as a fulltime CEO in the beginning of July. Mr. Agmon was the co-Founder and CTO of Onigma, a world leader in host-based data loss prevention solutions, acquired by McAfee in 2006, less than two years after inception. Prior to co-founding Onigma, Mr. Agmon held various roles in Israel’s high-tech and movie industries.
Avi Zeevi, Co-Founder and General Partner, Carmel Ventures said “Semingo is a high-potential next-generation web company that leverages distinct technological advantage for creating a highly innovative service.” He added, “This is Carmel’s third investment in the internet space, including Mythings.com and Mobicious. We found Semingo to have a unique combination of all of our major criteria in internet investments: an outstanding team, a strong underlying technology and a solution to a big need”.
“We are excited about Carmel’s investment that will allow us to focus on application development and recruitment of excellent people to our team.” Said Laid Agmon, Founder and CEO of Semingo. Mr. Agmon added “Semingo has all it takes to become one of the most interesting web companies in 2008. We have nearly completed recruiting of our core team, and are currently looking for experts in data mining, semantic text analysis and natural language processing.  There is nothing like the excitement of being part of a team that builds a new product category from scratch. Just think of how it was to be part of Google’s first few employees. The sky is the limit.”
