[EXIT] Viola Ventures holds Medallia (NYSE: MDLA) shares
Exits can come in many ways.
In 2009 Viola Ventures have made an investment into a customer experience company by the name of Kampyle Ltd.
Ronen Nir led the investment in the company and was the Viola Ventures board member all the way to its acquisition by Medallia. In 2013, Viola led a management change, bringing Mr. Ori Soen as CEO for the company. Within a year, Ori and the board had led a turnaround of the company resulting in its sale to Medallia, then a private Silicon Valley company, for a combination of cash and stock. Kampyle has turned into Medallia Digital, the company's most important growth engine, still led to this day by Mr. Soen.
Medallia went public on Friday, July 19th at $21 per share. On its first day of trading the stock appreciated 76%, also increasing the current VV share value.
This is Viola Ventures' 9th exit in 18 months, joining the acquisitions of Samanage, LiveU, Origami Logic, Parallel Machines, Cooladata, Clarizen, Tapingo and Perfecto Mobile.
