CTO at Viola Ventures
With over 35 years of experience in the software industry, Ofer has a strong background in technology. He joined Viola Ventures in 2003 as CTO and has worked with its founding Partners in various capacities ever since. As a part-time technology consultant for the Fund, Ofer is involved in the technological evaluation aspects of the due diligence process, and works with the CTOs and R&D managers of portfolio companies post-investment.
Ofer also serves as SVP Strategic Effectiveness of Payoneer, a global leader in cross-border B2b payments.
Prior to joining Viola, Ofer was the CTO at SunGard Business Integration (“SBI”, formerly MINT).
Prior to SBI, Ofer was the Chief Designer and Programmer at Tovna, an Israeli company which developed software for automatic translation between English, French and Russian.
From 1993 through 1996, Ofer was Senior Advisor to Israel’s Minister of Education.
He served in the Israeli Defense Forces’ prestigious Intelligence Corps and holds a B.Sc. (with distinction) in Mathematics and Computer Sciences from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

His professional areas of interest are mostly around “applicative innovation: The translation of technological innovations to actual products and solutions that can change our world for better.”
He’s inspired by “people who have made a significant change, or at least have tried to, in spite of objections, narrow mindedness and persecutions”
One of his favorite mantras is Kant’s categorical imperative: “Act only according to that maxim whereby you can at the same time will that it should become a universal law.”
He has been deeply interested in astronomy since childhood, and built his own telescope with his father as a young teenager. “I travelled 11,000 km from Israel to Wyoming to watch the Total Solar Eclipse of August 2017.”
